Inspecting Your New Home as If It Were Our Own
Meet Your Inspector
Home Pros of Tampa Bay is owned and operated by Licensed and Certified Professional Inspector, Todd Hovey. While working as a real estate agent, Todd was discouraged by the poor quality of home inspections he was seeing homebuyers receive. Seeing a hole in the market for dedicated, honest, and courteous inspectors, he decided to pursue a career as a home inspector himself. Todd has now been inspecting homes professionally for over 12 years and has inspected over 1500 homes, and he uses his experience as a realtor to help clients through the home-buying process. Additionally, he has held a Builders License in the State of Michigan since 2014, obtained his Certified Residential Contractors License in the State of Florida in 2025, and have completed hundreds of residential construction projects.
We provide high quality, professional and timely inspection services for home buyers and sellers as well as investors and property management companies using state of the art reporting software and inspection equipment.

Home Inspection FAQs
What Tampa Bay Buyers Need to Know
What Does a Home Inspector Look For?
A home inspection is a thorough, objective visual assessment of a property’s structure and major systems, from the roof and attic to the foundation, and everything in between. At Home Pros of Tampa Bay, our inspections are designed to give buyers a clear picture of a home’s true condition. It’s also a great resource for current home owners to prepare their home for the market or evaluate the home for maintenance needs. Lastly a home inspection is helpful when shopping for insurance as it can reduce premium costs.
How Much Does a Home Inspection Cost in Tampa Bay?
Our home inspection pricing is based on various factors, such as the home’s square footage, age, and location. Every inspection is performed by a licensed and certified professional, so you’re getting expert knowledge and a comprehensive HomeGauge report, not just a quick walk-through. Visit the “Services” page for fair and transparent pricing
How Long Will My Home Inspection Take?
Most home inspections in the Tampa Bay area take between 2 and 4 hours to complete. The exact time depends on the size and age of the property, its overall condition, and accessibility to areas like the roof, attic, and crawl spaces. Larger or older homes may take longer, but we never rush. Every inspection, big or small, gets the same thorough attention to detail.
Should I Be Present During the Home Inspection?
We strongly encourage buyers to attend their inspection whenever possible. Walking through the home with us gives you the opportunity to ask questions in real time, see issues firsthand, and gain a deeper understanding of the property before you close. That said, if you can’t be there in person, our detailed HomeGauge report, complete with photos and videos, will ensure you don’t miss a thing.
What Happens If the Inspector Finds Problems?
Finding issues during a home inspection is completely normal. No home is perfect, and that’s exactly what inspections are for. Your report will clearly document any areas of concern with photos, videos, and written descriptions, giving you and your agent the information needed to negotiate repairs, request credits, or make a fully informed decision about moving forward. A home inspection is not a pass or fail test. Instead, it’s a powerful tool to help you buy with confidence.
